Join us for Glam January 2011

Glamour Makeup Portrait Workshop in Jan
Join us for Glam January 2011, we rented an spacous location for Glamour Makeup Portrait Photography Workshop.  We will teach our techniques of doing different styles of Portrait lighting using all types of lighting.  Come in and learn from our mentors.  We will have a workflow workshop from beginning to set up to loading the photos in LightRoom 3.2.  We will show you how it's done by the exports for Client ready photos.  This will be instructional and hands on leaving you ready to do it on your own.  Hands on shooting with your camera, you will leave with photos from our amazing models created by some of Houston's best makeup artists.

We have survived the Teen Vogue, Gothic Glamour and Wedding Fantacy Workshop this month.

“Teen Vogue Fashion!” is what we were saying after our second Vogue Teen Fashion workshop photo shoot this past weekend before the Thanksgiving break. We had 19 models and 19 photographer along with four talented makeup artists come make this all happen. Along with all the parents, we were a site to see shooting. The Photos from the Vogue shoot are making everyone look twice.  Those teens sure did shine.   Here is a photos of Loren from the VTF workshop.  She is over 6 ft tall and just as pretty as her photos.  Special thanks to her posing skills, she made us all look good.  And yet there were even more models that looked just as pretty.

Model Loren at Vogue Teen Fashion
Gothic Dark Glamour was less than two weeks ago and it was shot inside and around a local Cotton Gin.  We had 13 Goth Models, 5 MU artists and 18 Photographers along with 5 Mentor Photographers.  This was a site to see indeed.  My job is to not look as shocked as I really am, lol.  We brought in our canopy bed and placed it in the cotton feild with black and red bed coverings. We had a male model join us at that shoot that gave 200%.  Mostly we bring in male models as props to the female models but this one held his own.  When you start to see more photos of him by himself than you know that he did a great job.  We all can't wait to see him grow into a strong model and actor from Houston.  No-one knew that we were skepical of doing this workshop for one, we were thinking that no one would be interested in Goth and two we knew that the Cotton Gin was a little out of the way as far as driving from downtown Houston.  Kuttos to all that traveled the distance to get the shoot.  Here is a photo from the Gothic Glamour shoot of Model Ashley Sanchez.
Model Ashley Sanchez from the Goth Glamour Workshop
This past weekend we completed our fifth WOW workshop.  If you have never been to a WOW workshop it's always different from the next with White Outdoor Wedding photos of Gorgeous models in Unique Wedding dresses in Unique locations around Texas.  We went to the Rose Garden in Needville for the last time since they sold it.  It was spectacular with models we have never worked with coming to add wedding dress photos to their portfolio.    Here is a photo we worked on right at the end of the workshop when everyone was packing up and leaving.  Model Vita stayed awhile for us to capture it.  We duplicated an idea with using red and blue jels at the doors of the Chapel.  Here is our WOW photos from number 5.  We had 17 models, four makeup artists, 22 Photographers along with Six Mentor Photographers helping them.

Join us for a weekend in January at the Beach shooting Brides at Sunrise and Save the Date Couples in the Sand.  Join us for one day or stay at the beach house.  For more information see http://www.thephotobinder.com/

Questions about ThePhotoBinder workshops Photo Shoot

Questions about ThePhotoBinder workshops

We get tons of emails asking what to expect at our workshops, I’m here to explain what to expect and answer those questions that many have asked and you never hear the answers.

Q. Will everyone be shooting the same model at the same time?

A. No and Yes. We don’t want you to shoot the same model at the same time as everyone else, but we have seen once or twice at a workshop that everyone wants the same photo of the same model and they all gather for a short time getting a shot of some amazing pose or background. We try to space out all the models for everyone to shoot at different times. We try our best to make the ratio 2:1 for Photographer to Model.

Q. What if I don’t have any lighting equipment to use at your workshops?

A. Lighting is not a problem; we bring in many mentors that have advanced lighting equipment for anyone to use that needs help or lights. It gives you a chance to test out different types of lighting to show what your photos look like with speed lights, reflectors, beauty dishes, umbrellas and soft boxes. This also gives you as a photographer a chance to see how and what type of lighting is use on location with different types of batteries.

Q. I am new at photography and I don’t know how to guide the models in posing, how will I fit in?

A. Our workshops are geared for newbie photographers and specialize in getting you to fit in. We have this one photographer that comes a lot because he is an introvert and he does not speak to people even at work, he claims that he has learned to talk to the models and photographers like he’s a natural Fashion Photographer. We hope that anyone of all levels will come and use our services; We gear to make those that are new able to shoot and guided by our mentors that will teach them in minutes that routine of posing and shooting angles.

Q. What if I want to bring a helper, do I have to pay for them to come help me?

A. All guests are welcome weather they are with a model or photographer. All helpers or assistances are free to attend all our workshops unless space is limited. All helpers are not allowed to shoot with a camera. We give all photographers that register a badge to wear and this is how the models know who photographers are assigned to shoot them.

Gearing up Photography for the end of the Summer workshops

Only a few more photography spots are left for the Wet n Wild 3 workshop for Aug 21.  Four models are attending this workshop with four different locations for photographers to shoot. It’s one of those amazing fun workshops that we spend all day preparing for a three hour shoot. The Wet n Wild workshop is small enough to learn, take your time and get some creative photography. This workshop is at night with using water and electricity. So safety and fun is our biggest concern. We use a above ground pool with three lights and a fog machine mixed with blue gel lighting. With a display of Tiki Lighting all over the area, we set up a non wet area with a Hammock in a greenery displayed. We have a Shower Scene with a battery operated pump in a troft to capture some water falling for models. Then we have what we call a reflecting pond that anyone can make. It’s four x two boards with black plastic wrap around with two inches of water inside an eight foot area to capture the reflection of the models. We have ladders set up for those that want to get a different angle. We have chairs and water for those that want to take a break from the heat. Each section is manned with mentors. Our four mentors for the last WnW3 is Houston Photographers Mark Bradley, Mark Matthews, Chris Ford and Ray Keeling. They are there to answer questions and explain the lighting set up if you so desire to learn. We hope you come join us for the end of the summer for our WnW3 workshop. To register just go to thephotobinder.com and click on the workshop photo you so desire to attend. If the workshop is FULL, it will say so on the link. Here is a photo from the WnW2 workshop.

Last month we had a client that was fun to work with and they wanted some pinup photos for a calendar and book. MUA Alicia Guerara was brought in to do their makeup and hair. The shoot was a three hour shoot with to clients and it was very delightful working to get some amazing pinup style photos. Here is one from our Client Lisa.

World Wide Photo Walk was July 24 for the third year in a row. This year we hosted a walk as one of the leaders instead of a walker. Basically up to 50 people can pre-register to walk and shoot with us. We met this year at the Galveston Strand at 5AM to beat the heat, we shot the sun cresting over the Ships and got a great view of the Strand alleys and Streets with the sun peaking out of top of the roofs. We all meet together for coffee and chimped over our photos. Many photos have already be posted them all over flickr. This year they created it’s own web site to organize the photos and members. All members are hidden from leaders and each other. They are protecting their privacy of 33,000 walkers. After the shoot the walkers upload one photo to be chosen from the 1111 walks around the world. One winner will be chosen from that and will win big. Walk winners will receive a choice of Lightroom 3 book or CS5 Photoshop book. As a Host leader we can’t enter the contest but also receive a book for hosting. It was great to host this year and organize a fun walk, we look forward to doing it again next year at a different location.

A week ago we did a fun photo session with a pre-teen Model/Actor. See was looking for something Fashionable and Fun at the same time. We have watched her grow before our eyes through all her photo sessions. We did her makeup and Hair to something different for her portfolio. The shoot was so unique we picked one of her photos for our 10th Issue Cover Model of the http://www.onetalentsource.com/ E magazine.  You can view this issue now by going to OTS web site.

Upcoming TKO workshop is set for 9-11 a famous day in our history and we are shooting at the main street boxing rink from 9-11am.  The cover model for the TKO is Model Jessica Kemski.  She had a blast working with us to get the cover for this third year TKO shoot.  Pack your camera's, water bottle and electric fan and join us by registering at http://www.thephotobinder.com/.  Here is Jessica's Promo ad for the TKO.

SOS5 was our fifth year to shoot in Galveston/Surfside area of Texas. Swimsuits on Sunset and Sunrise. Over 80 people ascended on the beaches July 17/18. We provided the beach house for some to stay at and use during the shoot along with some cool props. This year we brought a twin canopy bed to place in the water with bedding and drapery. We also built a wooden triangle swing for the models to pose around. The engineering behind it worked enough perfectly. We had photographers from as far as South Carolina to attend this BIG workshop photo shoot. We had new, old and returning models attend this year.  We built a raft this year to use with the cover model and tomorrow we are heading to the beach to do the shoot in the morning.

The Hill Country Ranch weekend 2 is set for Nov 5 thru Nov 7th in Fredericksburg, TX. We have a Ranch we shoot at all weekend. We lodge you, models, makeup artists and feed you for an excellent price of $300 until October the price will increase. You come in Friday and shoot Sunset, after dinner, shooting sunrise til you drop. We have a creek, pool, hot tub, barn, loft, hills, windmill and wind animals to shoot models around all weekend. We have some organized shoots with mentors and some go and shoot times. We have mentors available to critique, ask question, use equipment, learn posing and lighting from. The Ranch is laid back enough to work at your pace or try to keep up with the models wanting to shoot.

We are kicking off our second Wet n Wild workshop for July 31st with three amazing models and only six photographers.  We will shoot the models in a private pool with fog, smoke, gel lights, reflecting pond and outdoor showers.  It is Wet and Wild with models in some Haute Couture Makeup.

The first one we did some color gel lights in the garden tub and the photos looked really cool, but this time we are bring in the shower outside.  Here is a photo from the first Wet n Wild at the beginning of the month.  Photo below is Model Annicia Davis OTS #26717 with Makeup Artist Alicia Guevara.

A few weeks ago we did our second paper design workshop at the cotton gin.  We had 14 photographers and eight amazing models at it.  It was Hot and Haute to say the least.  We would have to say that dispite the hot temperatures the photos were amazing.  Here is one from that event with Model Kimmi Hunter a long time model on OTS # 18245.

We hope everyone has a great fourth of July as we celebrate with our families and friends.  Be safe and be happy in no matter what you do.  I leave you with a photo from our kids Sweet n Sassy Runway workshop of Photographers Chris Fords oldest daughter Megan age 24.  lol

Gearing up for the Wet n Wild Photography/Modeling Photo Shoot Mini-Workshop

Photo example of WET N WILD Model Lisa.

Gearing up for the Wet n Wild Photography/Modeling Photo Shoot Mini-Workshop this weekend. We are really excited about this one. Special thanks to Americans Next Top Model for giving us this idea in one of their episodes. We have some awesome models and photographers attending with lots of surprises for them all. Look for the photos on Sunday to start coming in. We already have a Wet n Wild 2 scheduled along with a waiting list of who wants to come.

Next weekend is a fun weekend with Urban High Fashion Workshop Photo Shoot for teens and up along with a Saturday night Sweet Sassy Runway Workshop Photo Shoot for kids. We have opening for both and registration is located on www.thephotobinder.com.

PDP2 Photo of Model Sasha Grether

Last week, we had a HAUTE time at the Cotton Gin doing Newspaper Design Workshop Photo Shoot. The concept was the second time we did this from 2008. It is a hard workshop that a lot happens from behind the scenes. The out come and photos being posted makes this well worth the trouble of doing this. Newspaper dress and Hair is by Robin Binder and all makeup of all eight models are by Heather Boilek – Pink Ink Makeup. To see all the photos from this event click here.

Here is Model Pamela Rai in the wedding dress from the Corpus Sunrise Sunrise Series a few weeks ago. The photos from this are just breath-taking and can be seen by clicking here. We have a fun beach shoot for kids and teens. They are all posted on thephotobinder.com web site.

We went to talk Houston Camera Co-Op Store and they are now one of our sponsors for our workshops. We loved the store and it has some great deals going on inside. They are helping to sponsor our biggest Beach shoot this summer; the SOS.  Model below is Theresa from last years fourth annual SOS.

What is SOS? Swimsuit on Sunset or Sunrise is July 17 and July 18 in Surfside TX close to Galveston Beaches . We rent a Large beach house in Surfside with a deck and offer Photographers to come for both days and the beach house for $300. This workshop is our largest workshop of the year. We bring in over 100 people to this workshop. Believe it or not, but no one is on top of each other. We have Male and Female Models attend and if you are a model wanting to attend, please email me at thephotobinder@aol.com with your name, email, portfolio link or three photos, phone contact, age over 16 and which day you can attend. For a limited time; Photographers can register for a discounted price.

We are leading a walk this year for the third year for the Scott Kelby World Wide Photo Walk set for the weekend July 24th. Each leader takes 50 photographers and this is all over the world. One of the Sponsors are Flickr, CLICK here to learn more. http://www.flickr.com/groups/wwpw3/ We picked the Galveston Strand for a Sunrise Photo Walk this year. This is a location that hasn’t been done before. Last year signed up for our second one and did another as a walk on. They are so much fun and great way to meet other photographers. And this year they have the coolest t-shirts that you must get. It’s a social photography event where photographers get together (usually in a downtown area or trendy section of town) to walk around, shoot photos, and generally have fun with other photographers. Did I mention that it’s FREE. We had over 900 Photo Walks and over 32,000 people who participated around the world last year! That’s a HUGE leap from the 236 locations and 8,324 people we had the first year.

Gearing up for Mothers Day Weekend

Photo above is Model Brittany Binder from our HNN workshop.

Haute is want we would describe this past weekend. We had a blast and got to take some amazing Haute Hollywood Photos with some dramatic Lighting in a unique Houston Night Club. We had 15 photographers and 10 models along with 3 makeup-artists and 1 hair stylist working as a great team. The details that were planned to make this happen just fell into place like clockwork. All models were experienced and professional to the tee. Congrats the Dallas photographer that won the $25 printing door prize to Mpix.com;

Above is another photo of Model Lisa Matthew from this amazing HHN workshop. Please take a minute to see all the photos from this event on http://onetalentsource.net/showthread.php?928

Gearing up for Glamour Haute Hollywood Nite Club workshop

We will start off this blog with a photo of Model Jessica Kemski taken last Sunday in Galveston’s Sunrise Beaches. A hand full of photographers and models woke up at 4am to run and beat the sunrise on the beach. We hope to get to do this again soon. Anyone wanting to join us or model at sunrise with us, please contact me at thephotobinder@aol.com and let us know. We also have the SOS workshop coming July 17/18 to flood the beaches the weekend with 100s of swimsuit models and photographers.

We are gearing up this weekend for the Glamour –Haute Hollywood Nite Club workshop. We are expecting about 45 people and it should be a great time. We have over 20 models, 4 Makeup artists and 17 Photographers at this time. We have a few more spots for photographers and it will close on Friday. The model lineup is spectacular and you can see them all on onetalentsource.net Forum under HHN workshop.

Above is model Rebecca Rutherford from New Orleans. The photo was taken at the MMM3 workshop in Fredericksburg. She is coming back this summer for our SOS.

Follow us to Austin May 16 for a Sexy western pin-up Sunrise at a Ghost Town location for our Wild-wild West workshop. We are going to also attend the Austin Photo Expo this year, FREE to photographers to attend the many seminars. Our sunrise shoot will end in time to attend Sundays Photo Expo in Austin. The location is catering breakfast for us also. Lots of fun that weekend.

Photo above is Model Anna Fernandez at the WOW4 workshop. The sunrise lighting turned out great and it was a sweet location in Brenham, TX.

June 13 is our Urban Fashion Workshop to cater to inside and outside around downtown Houston. Many have asked what is Urban Fashions and the latest City High Fashion is Urban and not to be confused with Rural. lol

Above is model Holland Nicole that attended our Senior 2011 Campaign workshop last weekend in Needville. An amazing location we love to go back to. The seniors had a blast with all the location and props around. They got to shoot inside and outside with 12 different photographers.

Stress is something that we all live with and deal with everyday. Come take the stress off your planning and details by shooting at one of our workshops. We do it all except press the button on your camera. Lol For a workshop concept photo shoot listing see www.thephotobinder.com.

We are about to post a few new workshops soon and are waiting a few dates and location approvals. Check back here on our Weekly Wednesday Blogs.
