Pass the Popcorn

Grab your coffee, click subscribe, enjoy the readings of my blogging ramblings of Gearing up topics. I'm always on the run and sharing my comings and goings of the life and times of the life of an active photographer.

We host monthly workshops for photographers, models, actors and makeup artist. We do this in unique location with a different concept in hopes that everyone involved can add their photos to their portfolio and build it up.

Now, pass the popcorn and tell me what you think?

Gearing up for the Fourth of July

Gearing up for the fourth of July with the Family.  Looking for a long awaited time to rest and hide the phone.  Photo above is this issue of onetalentsource.com E-Magazine.  Model Ciera Samuels OTS #28820 is the feature model for this issue about marketing.

We are only days away from the SOS Event 5 in Surfside and we are busy making some cool props for this event.   We have some really unique models, location and props to add to this years big event.  For those that have not registered yet as a photographer, please do so before we close the event.  We have makeup artists coming early to work on models in advance of the shoot starting.

We are kicking off our second Wet n Wild workshop for July 31st with three amazing models and only six photographers.  We will shoot the models in a private pool with fog, smoke, gel lights, reflecting pond and outdoor showers.  It is Wet and Wild with models in some Haute Couture Makeup.

The first one we did some color gel lights in the garden tub and the photos looked really cool, but this time we are bring in the shower outside.  Here is a photo from the first Wet n Wild at the beginning of the month.  Photo below is Model Annicia Davis OTS #26717 with Makeup Artist Alicia Guevara.

A few weeks ago we did our second paper design workshop at the cotton gin.  We had 14 photographers and eight amazing models at it.  It was Hot and Haute to say the least.  We would have to say that dispite the hot temperatures the photos were amazing.  Here is one from that event with Model Kimmi Hunter a long time model on OTS # 18245.

We hope everyone has a great fourth of July as we celebrate with our families and friends.  Be safe and be happy in no matter what you do.  I leave you with a photo from our kids Sweet n Sassy Runway workshop of Photographers Chris Fords oldest daughter Megan age 24.  lol

Gearing up for the Wet n Wild Photography/Modeling Photo Shoot Mini-Workshop this weekend. We are really excited about this one. Special thanks to Americans Next Top Model for giving us this idea in one of their episodes. We have some awesome models and photographers attending with lots of surprises for them all. Look for the photos on Sunday to start coming in. We already have a Wet n Wild 2 scheduled along with a waiting list of who wants to come.

Next weekend is a fun weekend with Urban High Fashion Workshop Photo Shoot for teens and up along with a Saturday night Sweet Sassy Runway Workshop Photo Shoot for kids. We have opening for both and registration is located on www.thephotobinder.com.

Last week, we had a HAUTE time at the Cotton Gin doing Newspaper Design Workshop Photo Shoot. The concept was the second time we did this from 2008. It is a hard workshop that a lot happens from behind the scenes. The out come and photos being posted makes this well worth the trouble of doing this. Newspaper dress and Hair is by Robin Binder and all makeup of all eight models are by Heather Boilek – Pink Ink Makeup. To see all the photos from this event click here.

Here is Model Pamela Rai in the wedding dress from the Corpus Sunrise Sunrise Series a few weeks ago. The photos from this are just breath-taking and can be seen by clicking here. We have a fun beach shoot for kids and teens. They are all posted on thephotobinder.com web site.

We went to talk Houston Camera Co-Op Store and they are now one of our sponsors for our workshops. We loved the store and it has some great deals going on inside. They are helping to sponsor our biggest Beach shoot this summer; the SOS.  Model below is Theresa from last years fourth annual SOS.

What is SOS? Swimsuit on Sunset or Sunrise is July 17 and July 18 in Surfside TX close to Galveston Beaches . We rent a Large beach house in Surfside with a deck and offer Photographers to come for both days and the beach house for $300. This workshop is our largest workshop of the year. We bring in over 100 people to this workshop. Believe it or not, but no one is on top of each other. We have Male and Female Models attend and if you are a model wanting to attend, please email me at thephotobinder@aol.com with your name, email, portfolio link or three photos, phone contact, age over 16 and which day you can attend. For a limited time; Photographers can register for a discounted price.

We are leading a walk this year for the third year for the Scott Kelby World Wide Photo Walk set for the weekend July 24th. Each leader takes 50 photographers and this is all over the world. One of the Sponsors are Flickr, CLICK here to learn more. http://www.flickr.com/groups/wwpw3/ We picked the Galveston Strand for a Sunrise Photo Walk this year. This is a location that hasn’t been done before. Last year signed up for our second one and did another as a walk on. They are so much fun and great way to meet other photographers. And this year they have the coolest t-shirts that you must get. It’s a social photography event where photographers get together (usually in a downtown area or trendy section of town) to walk around, shoot photos, and generally have fun with other photographers. Did I mention that it’s FREE. We had over 900 Photo Walks and over 32,000 people who participated around the world last year! That’s a HUGE leap from the 236 locations and 8,324 people we had the first year.
